Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai

Overlooking both the pristine waters of the Arabian Gulf and Dubai’s glittering skyline, Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai is a stunning beachfront resort with an enviable Jumeirah Beach setting. Located in one of Dubai’s most prestigious neighbourhoods, the resort’s spacious rooms and suites have a luxurious, contemporary feel, and come with stunning city or ocean views. With six restaurants and bars, a destination spa and kids’ club, Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai is the UAE’s most exciting new resort.

FANTASTIC FACTS

1. Guests are greeted with fourteen bronze metal trees standing seven, eight and nine metres high, creating a canopy of crystal and light in the lobby

2. Netsu, our Japanese steakhouse, introduces the traditional Warayaki cooking style, using straw instead of coal which creates higher temperatures of up to 1,000-degree Celsius, which is perfect for lightly searing food while leaving the inside uncooked

3. The Spa’s signature “Nomadic Sensory” treatment is a unique journey that takes guests on a rhythmic ritual that captures the spirit of Emirati Bedouin life, using the beat of a Doumbek (Arabic goblet drum)

4. The resort’s extensive events facilities include MO Canvas, a 400 square metre urban multipurpose space with an industrial edge that offers a blank canvas for a wide range of bespoke private events including product launches, fashion events, art exhibitions and workshops. The combination of concrete with minimal finishes in this unconventional space, allows brands to customise the venue to match their event theme.

5. Created by Emirati multidisciplinary designer Aljoud Lootah, the signature fan of Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai is an artistic blend of local Emirati heritage with modern touches. The main geometric pattern is inspired by khous, traditional palm frond weaving, while the curved outline references the sea, which was essential to the historic coastal town of Dubai, and also forms a vital part of the modern thriving city it is today

Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai's signature fan was created by Dubai-based multidisciplinary designer Aljoud Lootah.

Known for her work creating bespoke objects and collectables, Aljoud is one of the most talented, emerging artists in the UAE.

Featuring an artistic blend of local Emirati heritage and modern touches, the signature fan takes inspiration from both land and sea, historically the two main sources of livelihood for residents of the UAE. The fan's main geometric pattern is inspired by Khous, a palm frond weaving technique traditionally used by Emiratis to create a variety of items including The Mahaffa, a hand-held square fan, which provided another source of inspiration for Aljoud.

The fan's curved pattern references the sea, which has played an integral part in Dubai's evolution from fishing village to successful port and international city. Made from brushed brass, the ribbed structure complements the interiors of the resort and represents the modern edges of city.

The overall result is a stunning work of art that truly reflects the spirit of Dubai.
